J/Fest Southwest
Lakewood Yacht Club's J/Fest Southwest couldn't have been better with steady breeze and almost 60 boats. Several UK customers prevailed in the abnormal Easterly breeze. Chris and Karen Lewis aboard GB sailed away from the competition in the J/70 class to take 1st place. Uzi Ozeri and Infinity held off the rest of a 10 boat J/105 fleet to seize a 1st place finish. |
Great Feedback from a new UK TEXAS customer
We had the opportunity to design and build an X Drive Carbon Genoa backed with light taffeta for a newly delivered Hanse 455. The owner, Ted Greak was excited to have his boat ready for Harvest Moon but wanted a jib geared more towards racing rather than cruising. The new jib was delivered with time to spare and EDELWEISS went on to win her division and Ted earned a spot for his name on the Cannon Perpetual trophy which honors best corrected time in the Cruising Non Spinnaker Fleet. Ted was obviously thrilled with the results from Harvest Moon. He's an experienced and knowledgeable sailor but he made a point to recognizes the hard work the team at UK TEXAS invested in his sail. Mr. Greak said, "The new UK jib for our new boat was an excellent addition and was delivered just in time for the Harvest Moon Regatta. We used the UK jib the entire race. We finished the HMR in first place in our division. Thanks for taking the time to make certain the sail was correctly designed and fitted to out boat. And thanks too for taking the time to sail with us in order to acquaint the crew to the new sail addition". Any time, Ted. Congratulations! |
Harvest Moon Regatta
Congratulations to all who participated in the 30th Annual Harvest Moon Regatta. It's always great to get out of the bay and race down to Port Aransas. This year, many UK Customers returned home with hardware. Jim Demarest (Sodalis*) won Division B, and overall in the PHRF Spin Class. Uzi Ozeri (Easy Does It*) finished 1st in Division A. Gerhard Wittich finished 2nd. Cheers guys! In the ORC Club Spin Bacardi Fleet, Division C, Ben Miller (Flyer) placed 1st. John Fraser (Whistler II) finis...hed 2nd. Awesome! Ted Greak placed 1st in the Cruising Non-Spin Division M on his beautiful, new Hanse 455 (EDELWEISS*). Charles Herpich (Bev 'n Jo*) finished first in Division A and overall in the Cruising Poleless Spinnaker class. And finally, our long time customer, Walter Horton (Firewater) finished 1st in Division F of the Cruising Classic Canvas Class. Cheers to all who particpated. What a great regatta! * Denotes partial inventory |
8 Meter "Delphis"
We were lucky to have such a fun project, building sails for a classic boat, keeping with more traditional methods of sailmaking as well as materials. Their UK sails were made right here in Texas! Congratulations to Martin Billoch and crew for winning the XXII Regata Illes Balears in Palma de Mallorca. |
